Join Cumbria Connect’s Spring 2025 Fieldwork Seasons.

Are you a nature enthusiast with a passion for science?

Cumbria Connect, the landscape-scale nature restoration programme, invites you to participate in our upcoming fieldwork season this Spring.

Opportunities to get involved include:

  • Bird counts: Assist our science team in conducting comprehensive bird surveys, contributing to vital conservation efforts.
  • Herbivore Impact Assessments: Explore the intricate balance of ecosystems by evaluating the impact of herbivores on vegetation. Your observations will help inform sustainable land management practices.
  • Moth trapping: Uncover the hidden diversity of nocturnal insects.  Join us in setting up moth traps and identifying these fascinating creatures – an important indicator of ecological health.
  • Remote sensing:Use cutting-edge technology to monitor landscape changes.

What you’ll gain:

Hands-on experience working alongside experienced scientists and conservationists.

Are you passionate about nature and data? Do you want to contribute to vital scientific research and make a real difference to Cumbria’s environment?

Cumbria Connect’s Science Monitoring Programme offers the unique opportunity to work alongside experienced scientists to analyse critical environmental data.  Your contributions will help us understand and protect our precious landscapes.

Data analysis: Dive into fascinating data sets including bird counts, moths and diversity richness, vegetation diversity in upland vs lowland areas and grazed vs ungrazed wood pasture.
